Teacher Education

Programs

In Saskatchewan, becoming a teacher is a two-step process: first, completing a university teacher education program and second, applying to the Ministry of Education for a Professional A Certificate.

In Saskatchewan, individuals may complete their teacher education through programs offered by various institutions including the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon) and the University of Regina.

Internships or Student Teaching

School-based experiences are one of the most important components in education programs. It can be one of the most challenging and exciting experiences of your professional career. You will have the opportunity to learn new skills and test theory under the guidance of a mentor teacher.

Internship or student teaching offered by the College of Education, University of Saskatchewan and Faculty of Education, University of Regina provide introductory experience in school classrooms.

STF Membership

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) is committed to supporting education students and faculty in post-secondary institutions in the province.
