STF Portaplan & Members’ Health Plan
Overview
The STF Portaplan and Members’ Health Plan Board of Trustees is comprised of eight members appointed by the STF provincial Executive:
- The Chairperson.
- Five members from the general membership of the Federation.
- Two administrative staff members.
Plan personnel serve in an advisory capacity to the Board as necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, the plan manager and support staff.
The chairperson is appointed by the Executive for a three-year term, as are the members appointed from the general membership of the Federation. The Executive may deviate from this in filling initial appointments and unexpected vacancies, and to allow for the continuity of membership on the Board. The chairperson and other members appointed by the Executive may be re-appointed. The Board shall name one of its members as vice-chairperson who, in the absence of the chair, will assume that role.
As a fiduciary, the Board must act in the interest of the Plans and evaluate legal and fiscal implications of policies. They are also responsible for the oversight, planning, decision-making and monitoring of the activities of Portaplan and the STF Members’ Health Plan.
