Mission

To govern the Portaplan and STF Members’ Health Plan with integrity, transparency and responsible decision-making.

Vision

To provide term life insurance and a comprehensive package of health benefits to members that is affordable, easily accessible and responsive to their needs; and to develop a well-informed, ethically responsible membership.

Values and Beliefs

Ethical Values

The Board believes that:

  • all participants shall have equitable access to benefits
  • benefits shall be provided for the maximum number of participants
  • benefits shall reflect the ongoing and long-term resources available
  • all participants shall have a right to communicate with the Board
  • all participants shall have a right to be treated in a respectful and courteous manner
  • all participants shall have a right to an appeal process
  • the advice/opinions/suggestions of advisors, consultants, executive, Council and participants shall be considered when decisions are made
