Comité consultatif de l’éducation autochtone

The Advisory Committee on Indigenous Education is responsible for the following:

  1. to assist and advise the Executive Committee on the needs and concerns in the area of Indigenous education;
  2. to advise the Executive Committee on long-term directions and strategies to implement the CTF/FCE Policy and Procedures in the area of Indigenous education;
  3. to identify trends, issues, and problems pertaining to Indigenous education;
  4. to review current developments and to examine reports, briefs and studies pertaining to Indigenous education and to make recommendations to the Executive Committee on actions and response;
  5. to advise the Executive Committee on the value of activities which would help to accomplish the CTF/FCE Policy and objectives on Indigenous education;
  6. to identify strategies by which the CTF/FCE can be an advocate to promote and support Indigenous education;
  7. to support the CTF/FCE in broadening awareness and building commitment regarding Indigenous education;
  8. to identify strategies by which the CTF/FCE can promote and support teaching as a career for Indigenous people;
  9. to make recommendations to the Executive Committee regarding the CTF/FCE Policy on Indigenous education and suggest modifications as appropriate.
 

Le Comité consultatif de l’éducation autochtone doit:

  1. assister et conseiller le Comité exécutif au sujet des besoins et des préoccupations en rapport avec l’éducation autochtone;
  2. conseiller le Comité exécutif sur les orientations et les stratégies à long terme à adopter pour appliquer les Principes directeurs et les Procédures de la FCE/CTF sur l’éducation autochtone;
  3. repérer les tendances, les questions et les problèmes dans le dossier de l’éducation autochtone;
  4. examiner les récents développements et prendre connaissance des rapports, des documents d’information et des études sur l’éducation autochtone, et recommander des mesures à prendre au Comité exécutif;
  5. conseiller le Comité exécutif sur les activités qui contribueraient à appliquer les Principes directeurs et à atteindre les objectifs de la FCE/CTF relativement à l’éducation autochtone;
  6. trouver des stratégies d’action politique permettant à la FCE/CTF de promouvoir et d’appuyer l’éducation autochtone;
  7. appuyer la FCE/CTF dans ses efforts pour sensibiliser davantage à la cause autochtone et renforcer l’engagement envers l’éducation autochtone;
  8. trouver des stratégies permettant à la FCE/CTF de promouvoir l’enseignement en tant que carrière auprès des Autochtones et d’appuyer ceux qui choisissent cette voie;
  9. recommander au Comité exécutif l’adoption de nouveaux Principes directeurs ou la modification de Principes existants en rapport avec l’éducation autochtone.

Potential candidates must be Indigenous members of the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation.

Committee members are appointed by the Canadian Teachers’ Federation. The committee typically meets a minimum of twice per school year with meetings occurring via web conference after school hours, where possible.
