Teacher Well-Being

According to the Mental Health Commission, on any given week, more than 500,000 Canadians are unable to go to work due to mental health problems. Although mental illness is a topic that touches virtually every one, many people are still reluctant to talk about it. To break the silence, it’s important to talk, today and always.

The STF is here to support Saskatchewan teachers. If you are struggling with your mental health or a mental illness, the Federation provides benefits that can help you.

For short-term mental health support, you can contact the Member and Family Assistance Program (MFAP). To start the conversation, first login into MySTF and visit our MFAP & Teacher Well-Being page for the Program’s dedicated phone number and your Guidance Resources web ID. The program’s intake team will assess your needs and refer you to a counsellor in your area to set up a confidential face-to-face meeting.

Also, the STF Members’ Health Plan offers Saskatchewan teachers 90% coverage for registered psychologist or social worker visits, providing a maximum of $2,500 per calendar year. To process your claims, sign in using the Canada Life App.

If you are looking for other resources available to support and help manage your mental health through COVID-19, we’ve compiled a list of free resources here.
