The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation expressed its disappointment in the teacher regulation report, prepared by Dr. Dennis Kendel and contracted by the Ministry of Education.For the Sake of Students lacks critical analysis, consultation and scope.

“The Federation welcomed this review as an opportunity to share information with the minister, Dr. Kendel and the public,” said STF Executive Director Gwen Dueck. “We provided extensive resources about our processes and full transparency into our organization in the best interests of students.”

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation announced today that teachers have rejected the proposed tentative provincial collective bargaining agreement for 2013-2017. The vote on the tentative agreement held provincewide on October 22, 2013, resulted in 73 per cent of teachers voting against the agreement that was placed before teachers for their consideration.

A total of 12,403 ballots were returned to the auditing firm that tabulated the vote on behalf of the Federation.

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation is committed to engaging in the government’s review of the teacher disciplinary process. The minister of education announced that it has appointed Dr. Dennis Kendel to conduct consultations across the education sector.

“Teachers recognize the importance and responsibility of the public trust they are granted. We welcome the opportunity to share information with Dr. Dennis Kendel and the public regarding disciplinary processes,” said Gwen Dueck, executive director of the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation.
