2018-19 At a Glance
“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.” – Margaret (Meg) J. Wheatley
Pay attention to television or social media and it’s easy to get swept away in global messages of doom and gloom and communities divided. Author Margaret J. Wheatley reminds us not to buy in. Instead, she encourages societies to collectively embrace the inherent power and strength that comes from people working together toward a common good.
That’s what Re-Imagine Education has been about–building relationships and listening to diverse perspectives about what’s needed to create a high-performing public education system that works for multiple learners. We learned a lot, which you’ll hear about when the final report is shared later this fall.
The 2018-19 At a Glance report aligns with and supports the work of the Re-Imagine Education initiative. At a Glance highlights our successes and achievements in engaging with members, students and families, and the wider Saskatchewan community. We listened. We learned. Now we are ready to lead and advocate for the changes we heard are needed.
Within this year’s report, members can learn about important partnerships being developed through the Saskatchewan Professional Development Unit’s Leading to Learn and Following Their Voices initiatives. Teachers can explore features of the new 2311 Arlington Avenue building, which will open in 2020. Maybe you’re curious about changes to your pension plan or health benefits, the winners of the 2019 Arbos awards or the advocacy successes we’ve achieved together on behalf of Saskatchewan teachers and the teaching profession. At a Glance features all this and more. Let us know what you think by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
