Teacher Well-being Webinar Series: The Truth About Credit

Teacher Well-Being Series: Balance Your Health, Empower Yourself

Often, the first place a lot of us start when looking to improve our well-being is with physical or mental health. But not many of us take into consideration the role that financial well-being plays in our lives. When you’re dealing with financial stress, you’re twice as likely to report poor overall health, four times as likely to suffer from sleep problems, headaches and other illnesses and more likely to experience strain in your personal relationships.

Studies show that financial well-being is more strongly related to how you manage money than to how much money you make. Debt is in all of our lives to one degree or another and treats all of us as equals. Around 44 percent of Canadians find their debt level to be overwhelming, which has a significant impact on their well-being. Understanding how credit and debt work will give you better control over your financial situation and improve the way you manage money.

By attending, you will:

  • Learn the myths about credit.
  • Understand the facts about credit reports, ratings and scores.
  • Learn strategies to repair and protect your credit.

Facilitator:

Tim St. Vincent has over 25 years of experience in financial services and is a retired certified financial planner. He is also a financial educator for the Credit Counselling Society, a non-profit organization focused on helping Canadians achieve financial well-being through education, credit counselling, budget review and preparation.
