Sanctions Vote

After several months of collective bargaining in 2019 and four days in conciliation in 2020 no progress was made between the Teachers’ Bargaining Committee and Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee.

The Teachers’ Bargaining Committee and STF Executive endorsed the next step – a sanctions vote – to take place February 10 and 11, 2020. Voting will occur through secret ballot and be administered by the school staff liaison in each school. The completed ballots will be sent to a third-party accounting firm in the interests of transparency and accountability. Results will be known in late February.

Members need to vote to provide the Teachers’ Bargaining Committee with the authority to impose sanctions. It remains the responsibility of the Teachers’ Bargaining Committee to determine the type of sanction to be imposed and when those sanctions would occur.

Updates will be sent out through the app as developments occur. There will be a delay in updates being sent via email. Download the STF App.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS – Please note that unless you’re substitute teaching the days of the vote (February 10 and 11, 2020) you are not eligible to cast a ballot. Please consult the School Staff Liaison at the school where you are substituting on either of those days for voting information.
