The Beneficiary Rules in STRP Have Changed
Effective July 1, 2024, dependent children no longer have first entitlement (after a spouse) to your STRP death benefits. This change was made to align STRP’s rules with the rules provided under Saskatchewan pension legislation. A legal spouse will continue to have automatic first entitlement to any death benefits payable; however, in the absence of a legal spouse, the benefit will now be paid to the beneficiaries named on your beneficiary form. Please ensure you review your beneficiaries to be certain that any death benefits from the STRP will be paid according to your wishes.
If you would like to change your beneficiary designation, complete and mail the STRP Beneficiary Designation Form to our office.
