The Federation is excited to announce a unique opportunity for members from underrepresented groups to participate in our upcoming events. This initiative aims to promote awareness of our governance structures and programs, foster succession planning within the profession, and increase representation of underrepresented groups within our membership. By doing so, we hope to contribute to teacher diversity and enhance member engagement.

The Federation recognizes the importance of diverse representation and voice within the membership and is seeking applicants that belong to underrepresented groups which includes, but is not limited to, teachers who identify as: Indigenous, racialized, having disabilities, 2SlGBTQIA+, and/or are in their first five years of teaching.

Current Opportunity: Annual Meeting of Council 2025

Have you ever wondered who elects our STF President? What is council? How does the STF gather feedback or make decisions on policy and governance? The Annual Meeting of Council is the perfect event to learn about Federation governance and meet STF councillors from across the province who make decisions that directly impact you! Council is composed of STF Executive members and councillors elected by local associations. They make crucial fiduciary and governance-related decisions that guide the work of the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation on behalf of its members.

Held each spring, the Annual Meeting of Council features an agenda that includes governance and administrative reports, receipt of the financial statements, elections to fill vacancies on the STF Executive, approval of the budget and membership fee, participation in group sessions to discuss resolutions, and voting on numerous resolutions and notices of motion. A final vote on all resolutions and notices of motion is taken at the closing plenary session.

Council consists of members of the STF Executive and those councillors elected by local associations. Important fiduciary and governance-related decisions are made by Council that guide the work the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation on behalf of the membership.
