Active Members and Retirees Get Another Pension Boost

January 8, 2026

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation Executive recently approved another year of conditional increases to both active and retired members’ pensions.

On January 1, 2026, retirees also received their regular guaranteed cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) on their pre-2015 pension. The increase was 1.6 percent. Conditional increases help your pension keep up with inflation to provide a more meaningful retirement benefit.

This is the fifth year in a row that conditional increases have been provided to STRP members’ pensions.

Who is eligible for conditional upgrades?

Any teacher who, in the 2024/2025 or 2025/2026 school years:
• provided service under contract, or
• provided at least 20 substitute teaching days, and
• has not retired or received a termination benefit from the Plan on or before June 30, 2026.

Who is eligible for conditional COLA?

All retired members who were receiving a monthly pension as of December 31, 2025 were eligible to receive the conditional COLA along with their guaranteed COLA increase.
