This process provides a framework to support learners in assessing their level of understanding and application of processes, skills, or strategies.


  1. Given processes, skills or strategies that are important for learner success and independence, invite learners to reflect on their understanding and application of each using the following coding: 
    • N – new to me 
    • K – knew about 
    • A – apply when I remember 
    • I – integrated into my learning/what I do 
  2. Follow this reflection with goal-setting conversations with students.
