The STF Investment Committee is comprised of independent professionals with specialized investment management, finance, legal or actuarial knowledge, each appointed by the STF Executive.

Janet Julé, CPA, CMA, CFA, ICD.D
Committee Chair Janet Julé is the former Chief Investment Officer of the Saskatchewan Healthcare Employees’ Pension Plan (SHEPP). She served as SHEPP’s first CIO from 2015, building the investments department, providing investment strategy advice to the Board and portfolio implementation until her retirement in June 2024. Prior to joining SHEPP, Janet spent 21 years as an institutional investment consultant, most recently as a partner with Aon, where she consulted to boards and committees in the pension, endowment and insurance sectors. Janet was also previously with Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan as a consultant and director. Janet has a B. Admin from the University of Regina majoring in accounting and finance, is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst. She also holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. |

Kamila Giesbrecht, CFA, RPA
Kamila Giesbrecht is the head of Capital Allocation for Westerkirk Capital, where she oversees the firm’s approach to deploying capital across different investment opportunities. Kamila has extensive investment experience, with over 28 years in the industry. Most recently, Kamila worked as Executive Director of Investments at the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Faculty Pension Plan, where she managed all investment activities related to the Plan. Prior to her time with UBC, Kamila was Principal at George & Bell Inc. and worked in senior roles at both Aon Consulting and Phillips, Hager & North. She has spent most of her career building investment portfolios and underlying strategies for a variety of institutional clients (pensions, endowments and insurance companies). Kamila also has experience serving on pension boards and investment committees. Kamila received her Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Toronto. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Retirement Pension Associate. |

Emilian Groch, ICD.D
Emilian Groch is a Corporate Director with extensive experience in the pension-investment industry focused on governance, strategic planning, risk management and policy. As the former Chief Executive Officer of the Alberta Teachers’ Retirement Fund Board (ATRF), Emilian established ATRF as a leading-edge pension-investment organization in Canada and played a key role in the Canadian employment-based pension plan system. Prior to his time with ATRF, Emilian was the chief pension regulator for the Province of Alberta. Emilian works with multiple boards and advisory committees and is a member of the Government Relations Committee of the Pension Investment Association of Canada. He was also a founding director of the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance. Emilian received a B.Sc. Honours (Applied Mathematics in Statistics) from the University of Alberta and received the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. |

Suzanne Trottier, ICD.D, CFA, MBA
Suzanne Trottier is currently President of First Nations Bank of Canada Trust (FNB Trust) and oversees over $5 billion in First Nations trust investments across Canada. She will bring significant board, finance, and leadership experience alongside an Indigenous perspective to the Committee. Suzanne currently serves on the board of the Business Development Bank of Canada as Audit Committee Chair, is Chair of Board for InBC Investment Corp and is the Treasurer of the National Aboriginal Trust Officers Association board. She is a proud Métis woman with maternal roots in the Lake Manitoba and Ebb and Flow First Nations. Suzanne holds CFA, MBA, and ICD.D designations and previously, worked with the First Nations Financial Management Board, First Nations Inuit Health Branch of Health Canada, and Ernst & Young Corporate Finance. |

Deron Waldock, BA, LLB
A partner in Gowling WLG’s National Pensions Group, Deron Waldock has been helping employers navigate complex pension, benefit, and executive compensation challenges for more than 25 years. Recognized as a leader in his field by Chambers Global, Lexpert and The Legal 500, he is trusted by clients not only for his deep technical expertise but also for his ability to distil intricate legal and actuarial issues into clear, inventive, and actionable strategies. Deron’s legal insights will fill a key competency that was previously missing in our investment committee. A sought-after thought leader, Deron writes and speaks frequently on virtually all facets of pension law and has served as a member of the C.D. Howe Institute’s Pension Policy Council. He previously chaired the Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute (Ontario Region) and the Ontario Bar Association’s Pensions and Benefits Law Section, and was a member of the FSCO Legal Advisory Committee. He has also guest lectured at Osgoode Hall Law School. Outside his practise, Deron contributes his expertise to the broader community. In June 2025, he was elected Chair of the Board of Governors at St. Jerome’s University, Waterloo Region’s founding institution of higher learning. Deron holds a BA and LLB and is called to the Ontario and Alberta bars. |

Kevin Hynd, B.Comm., CFA
Kevin Hynd serves as the Director of Investments at Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI), where he is responsible for overseeing investment strategy and reporting across multiple programs. Drawing on 17 years of industry experience, he provides leadership in analysis and strategic decision-making for both the Investment Committee and the Board of Directors. Kevin holds a B.Comm. in Finance and Economics from the University of Saskatchewan and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. |
