Equity in Action: Strengthening Labour Rights from Within
10:45-11:45 a.m. – Michelangelo AB (MAAB)
In this interactive session, Isha Khan, CEO of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, will guide participants through a reflective and hands-on exploration of equity in the workspace. Together, we will examine how labour rights are not only fought for at the bargaining table but also lived out in the culture and practices of our organizations. Through facilitated dialogue, case examples and practical tools, participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their own organizational context, identify barriers to equity and collaborate on strategies to create a more inclusive, respectful and just workplace.
Isha Khan
Isha Khan (she/her) is a lawyer and community leader whose extensive career has been dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights, dignity and equality in Canada and beyond. Since being appointed CEO of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in 2020, she has led change focused on engaging deeply with community to build a better understanding of human rights through storytelling, transformational experiences and by modelling a culture of respect for human rights.
Isha holds degrees from the University of Manitoba and the University of Victoria. She worked in private practice as a lawyer in Calgary before returning to Winnipeg to lead organizational development at United Way Winnipeg. At the Manitoba Human Rights Commission, she served first as legal counsel and then as Executive Director, advocating in the public’s interest on individual and systemic cases of discrimination and moving forward rights-based education initiatives. In 2019, she was appointed by the Government of Canada to review the conditions of people in solitary confinement in federal penitentiaries.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, she is a dedicated community volunteer who currently sits on the boards of the Main Street Project and Balmoral Hall School, the President’s Advisory Committee at the University of Manitoba and the Executive Committee of the International Network of Museums for Peace.
Throughout her life, Khan has helped build communities where everyone is respected and valued. She continues that work at the Museum, helping to advance the public’s understanding of human rights through storytelling, and engaging new ways of working in museums, arts and culture and beyond.
Local Association Success Stories
10:45-11:45 a.m. and 1:00-2:00 p.m. – Michelangelo C (MAC)
This session is for local associations to share their success stories from the past couple of years. Perhaps you’ve made great strides in relationships with your board, local and/or provincial politicians or you’ve had success with LINC or organizing your members. Please come ready to share and to learn from the successes of others.
Derek Barss

Resolutions Procedures
10:45-11:45 a.m. and 1:00-2:00 p.m. – Da Vinci (DAV)
This session will provide you with everything you need to know about the resolutions process, including writing and submitting resolutions and the role of the Resolutions Committee. The history of STF resolutions and an overview of Council modules will also be discussed.
Lisa Hodson
Lisa Hodson was a teacher, assistant principal and principal for over 29 years, with her last experience as principal of a large urban high school. She joined the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation as Senior Administrative Staff in January of 2020. Governance is a passion and a large part of her work at the STF.
Widening the Circle: Connecting with Indigenous Councillors, Indigenizing and Modernizing Council Working Committee
1:00-2:00 p.m. – Florence (FLO)
The Indigenizing and Modernizing Council Working Committee would like to meet with all Indigenous councillors to discuss their work so far and gain insights from the larger group of Indigenous councillors.
Indigenizing And Modernizing Council Working Committee
The Indigenizing and Modernizing Working Committee was established by the STF Executive in 2024 to review the governance practices of Council. The work of the Committee includes consideration of how the STF might incorporate Indigenous ways of knowing and governance practices into Council, the barriers to participating in Council for under-represented groups and to make recommendations on how Council could become a more inclusive and welcoming space. The Committee will provide recommendations to the STF Executive in the spring of 2026.
Connecting With and Engaging Your Teachers
1:00-2:00 p.m. – Michelangelo AB (MAAB)
Deep engagement doesn’t happen in mass emails or big meetings – it happens one conversation at a time. In this session, we’ll explore how intentional, structured one on ones and small group discussions can build trust, spark action, and meet members where they’re at. You’ll leave with practical strategies to get the right level of participation from the right people – and hopefully even enjoy having those conversations along the way.
Grayson Beaudin
Grayson Beaudin is the Manager of Member Experiences and Operations with the STF. Bringing over a decade of classroom and governance experience into his current role, he continues to leverage his skills to broaden organizational impact. Grayson has deep roots in community organizing and engagement, and is committed to empowering others to shape their own experiences. He believes in a balanced approach, always looking for new ways of integrating innovative technologies with the art of traditional, meaningful conversations to enhance both community and member engagement.
