Payment of Benefits

Your monthly benefit from the Teachers’ Long-Term Disability Plan will be automatically deposited into your bank account on the last business day of each month.

During the school year in which your claim begins, benefits are calculated based on compensable teaching days lost due to disability. The Plan uses a calendar of 197 teaching days for this purpose. As a result, the amount payable in a particular month may vary depending on the number of compensable teaching days within that month. In the initial school year of your claim, you will not receive disability payments in July or August. If disability continues into subsequent years, your disability benefit will be paid every month of your approval period, including July and August.

If applicable, LTD benefits are reduced by earnings or income replacement benefits from other sources, as provided under the Plan. The Plan also contains an all-source maximum provision that may further reduce benefits where total income from all applicable sources exceeds the limits established under the Plan.
